...One day, Len got really really bored. She didn't want post her works on DA. Neither does she wanna post in FAC. She just want a quiet space for herself. Somewhere where no one will comment or spy on. So she made this :P

we 3 archers of cassiopea

This is...one of those 'in long progress' artworks. Drawn and done half way some months back, only to come back to it today, when i flipped thru that file full of 'hibernating' works... Yea, maple-theme again, this time, my two buddies of cass: cutie and boii (the other of course is me! XD). Given it an old parchment treatment... cos now the three of us are no longer jamming together...

It was fun; an all archer party hunting and questing in ludi. Not long, cutie got caught up with her working life...boii's acc got hacked, followed by hers. Tried helping to revive their accounts by giving whatever archer stuff i can spare, but soon, both weren't continuing due to their other responsibilities. I too started to drift away. Ah well...

Work in progress!:

Tried painting in a standing position (due to lack of chairs in the room...). Pasted the painting on the cupboard (economical solution to no easels...). A piece of cloth hanging for drying my wet brush:

A wristband to hold my brushes! XD

After painting, a brown colour pencil was used to bring in more defined shades, not to forget the white for highlights! Seriously need a scanner.... the camera doesn't seem to be color friendly...

Just like a student

Went out with Ying to the national museum today. Gosh...never go anywhere unprepared... XD We didn't quite know the way, and ended up walking around fort canning park before knowing it was just beside the building where we started.... Anyways, we went there for the greek artifacts exhibition. These 100+ artifacts were brought in from the louvre, and hell are we gonna let this chance slip!

After it all, it we went for some munchies at subway....SMU. Are u a student? Nope, but ah well, i nodded my head (guilty!!! Talk about student discounts, i went into the exhibition at a student pricing, which is half of the adult price :x). So we jsut sat there, and talk talk, gossip gossip. While she shared about her NTU life, i told her about the life in my current company.

Somehow, she was quite right about something... getting a job in this line now wasn't as frightening as we thought while we were in nyp. I could still remember the times in school when we thought that there is no future. Everyone is so good, there are so many talented people out there, what about us moderate ones who hang no where? Wrong. Oppurtunities are there, it's just ur expectations. The good ones get what they want. The moderate ones also get a job, it's whether u accept whatever that may come ur way.

However.... even a dream job is just a dream. Seeing the lucky ones who got what they want starting to suffocate in their passionate circle..... realising the difference between selling one's soul and selling one's time... Seems like being a student ain't bad after all. Haha...

Tooran

Tooran, from Monster Soul (drawn by the mangaka of Fairy Tail and Rave). She's a sort of monster that can transform into sand at her own will. Somehow..when i furst read her name in the chinese translation, it came across as a vulgarity ('du lan' in a certain chinese dialect...).

With my white gouache dried up... i use white acrylic as a substitute. Hey, it seems to stand out better. While painting half way, i realised her head looks a bit too big..... :(

Medium: watercolors, color pencils, white acrylic

Patching the Sky

This pic was sketched out a few months back, but didn't really finish it till yesterday. Didn't know what medium to use for this one... After flipping a few watercoloring books, i was quite inspired by a particular technique which i went ahead with applying it to this painting, splattering and making a big mess of my table :p Took a few photos of it!

Had to cover up the areas that i didn't want the paint to get in... so I did a cut out of the girl's silouhette and used that as a cover. (Wanted to give up then.... :x)

...And after that, the clouds were painted by dabbing paint with a tissue paper.

I am quite pleased with the two effects, however... the picture still seems rather incomplete... Maybe too soft... and many many mistakes. But I didn't want to touch it anymore. The more i try to add on and correct, the worse it will get...so gonna leave it as it is.

Medium: watercolors, color pencils, white gouache, signo gold pen on watercolor paper

HongDouDou

A friend requested a pic of hongdoudou, a former guild member of the guild my archer is currently in. I tried my hand at drawing her character before, but failed... When I lift the pencil to draw, I was stuck with the question: 'what is doudou's personailty...?' As she left shortly after i joined, I didn't get to know her well.

Think..see..ask... drag drag drag... settle!

Her name meant something more than a 'red bean'... so, decided to add in the un-maple element of saga seeds (yea..those red dots there..) The few who i showed the pic to couldn't figure out what they were ...T.T (shi bai arrrr). Until i said 'her name is hongdoudou' did they go 'oooo'.

From doudou's guild blog:

愿君多采摘,此物最相思
